花瓶 - 陶瓷 - 日本 - 备前烧石质花瓶 - Kimura Ichiyō (没有保留价)

Good condition. Description: This is a rustic Bizen ware flower vase with a strong, archaic presence. The form is upright and slightly tapering, with a broad lower body, narrowed shoulder, short cylindrical neck, and subtly flared mouth. Two small side lugs or “ears” are attached near the shoulder, giving the vessel a restrained ceremonial feeling. The surface shows the characteristic unglazed beauty of Bizen-yaki: reddish-brown fired clay on the upper section, dark smoky grey-black tones toward the lower body, and natural kiln effects rather than applied glaze. The uneven firing marks, ash-like surface variation, scratches, and earthy texture give it a wabi-sabi quality—quiet, aged, and handmade rather than polished. It would work well as a hanaire / flower vase, especially for a single branch, autumn grasses, or a restrained tea-room arrangement. The accompanying paper identifies the artist as 木村一陽 / Kimura Ichiyō, a Bizen potter connected to an old Kimura family lineage in Imbe, Bizen. According to the text, the Kimura family traces its role as official Bizen-domain craftsmen back to 1675, when the first Kimura Chōemon was appointed as a domain ceramic craftsman. Kimura Ichiyō was born in Meiji 45 / 1912 in Imbe as the second son of the 13th-generation Kimura family line. He studied at the National Kyoto Ceramic Testing Institute, where he gained broad technical knowledge of ceramics, then returned to Bizen and joined younger potters in forming Tōshinsha, a group devoted to renewing and studying Bizen ware. The text also says that in Showa 11 / 1936, he became independent and founded the present Ichiyō-gama kiln. It presents him as a serious, independent-minded Bizen potter who avoided fame and profit, endured the difficult prewar and postwar years, and devoted himself to the inherited spirit of traditional Bizen craftsmanship. His sons, Kōzō and Takaaki, are also mentioned as accomplished ceramic artists. NOTICE
