A true statement piece that brings life and warmth to any space. Artist Background Gashu Fukamizu (1953–2023) was a prominent Japanese woodblock artist born in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture. Graduating from Doshisha University in 1976, he chose the path of a printmaker, deeply inspired by the masterpieces of Umetaro Azechi and Takeji Asano. He traveled to the United States in 1978 to study art at a research institute in Boston for a year. Upon returning to Japan, he established residences in Kyoto, Nagasaki, and Fukuoka to create his art. His works beautifully express familiar creatures such as people, cats, birds, fish, and fruits using simple lines and shapes.
