NGC MS64 1967 Mexican 1 Peso 1967Mo MEXICO PESO: Minted in 1967 by the Mexico City Mint (Mo is the Mexico City mint mark), face value 1 peso; MS 64: NGC gives it a grade of 64 for uncirculated condition. MS (Mint State) indicates no wear or tear after minting. 64 is a very good commercial grade, with only a few very minor scratches and dents, and excellent luster. Obverse: The main subject is a profile portrait of José Morelos, leader of the Mexican War of Independence, with a delicately woven vintage-style stand-up collar. A small "M" Mexico City Mint mark is engraved to the left of the portrait. The coin is bordered by a wreath of laurel and oak branches, finished with a bow, and the edges are decorated with serrated beads. The reverse side features the Spanish inscription ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS (United States of Mexico) around the outer rim, with the denomination UN PESO (1 peso) and the year of minting, 1967, marked at the bottom. The center displays Mexico's classic coat of arms: an eagle perched on a cactus, its talons grasping a snake, a symbolic national emblem of Mexico. The eagle is flanked by foliage, echoing the wreath design on the obverse.
