卖家的描述
Striking Limoges porcelain set decorated by the Paillet studio and retailed by A. Houssais of Rennes.
This elegant partial service consists of:
1 large handled cake/serving plate (diameter 26.5 cm without handles; 29.5 with handles; depth 3.5cm)
12 matching side/dessert plates (diameter 18.5 cm each; depth 2cm each)
Design & Technique
The pieces feature a dramatic central sun/starburst motif with radiating white and gold points, surrounded by beautiful iridescent (lustre) peacock-eye/feather motifs on a blue-grey crackle-mosaic background with fine gold outlining. Gold rims and handles complete the luxurious effect. The iridescent areas catch the light beautifully and are characteristic of high-quality late Art Nouveau/early 20th-century French decorative porcelain.
Marks & Signatures
Front: Hand-signed in gold cursive “Paillet” (the mark of the Paillet decorating studio, known for fine hand-painted Limoges porcelain).
Back: Oval retailer mark “A. HOUSSAIS PORCELAINES-CRISTAUX • 2.R. MOTTE-FABLET • RENNES”.
Star mark with “LIMOGES FRANCE” (confirming Limoges porcelain blanks).
Handwritten pattern/stock number 1086.
Period
Circa 1890–1910 (stylistic dating consistent with the iridescent technique, motifs, and marks). The Paillet decorating studio is documented especially in the Art Deco period but had clear earlier activity or continuity.
Condition
Good overall condition for its age. Light surface wear and minor gilt rubbing consistent with normal use and age (no major chips, cracks or restorations visible). The iridescent decoration remains vibrant. Please study the photos carefully — vintage porcelain is sold as found.
Provenance
Limoges blanks decorated and signed by the Paillet studio, retailed by the respected porcelain and crystal merchant A. Houssais in Rennes, France.
This is a very decorative and uncommon set with strong visual impact and excellent collector appeal for lovers of signed Limoges, Art Nouveau, and iridescent porcelain.
Photos include: overall views, close-ups of the Paillet signature, all back marks (including 1086), and details of the iridescent decoration.
Carefully packed and sent with tracking and insurance.
