烛台 (5) - 木 - 独特的教堂一组,约1780年

An exceptional and highly decorative five-piece giltwood ecclesiastical candlestick ensemble, acquired from a private estate and believed to originate from a Southern European church, most likely in Spain or Italy. From 1780 till 19th century. The ensemble consists of: One impressive five-light altar candelabrum. 1780 Two large matching Baroque altar 1840-1860 candlesticks. Two smaller floral candlesticks. Late 19th century. Based on the craftsmanship, construction and the remarkable aged gesso and gilding, the three largest pieces are believed to date from the late 18th to the early 19th century (approximately 1770–1800). Their robust hand-carved construction, authentic wear and centuries-old patina are consistent with ecclesiastical furnishings from Southern Europe. The two smaller candlesticks appear to be later additions. Although they harmonize beautifully with the ensemble, they most likely date to the second half of the 19th century (circa 1850–1900) and were probably made in the same Baroque Revival tradition. All pieces are hand-carved in wood and finished with traditional gesso and original gilding. The surfaces display beautiful age-related wear, natural craquelure and traces of old candle wax accumulated through many years of use, contributing to their authentic historical character. The original metal drip pans (bobeches) are present, and the ensemble forms a striking decorative display suitable for collectors of ecclesiastical art, Baroque antiques or historic interiors. Condition Good antique condition with expected age-related wear, losses to the gesso and gilding, minor old repairs, craquelure and wax residues. Structurally sound with an exceptional, untouched patina. Please study all photographs carefully, as they form part of the description. Provenance: Private estate. Believed to originate from a Southern European church. Largest pieces: Probably Spain or Italy, circa 1750–1800. Middle set 26*12cm 1770-1820 Smaller candlesticks: Probably Spain or Italy, circa 1850–1900. 20* 7 cm Material: Hand-carved wood, gesso, original gilding and metal bobeches. International shipping is available. Each piece will be professionally packed with great care to ensure safe worldwide transport.
