This special circulation commemorative coin was minted at the Vienna Mint (Münze Österreich) to mark the 60th anniversary (jubilee) of the monarch's coronation and reign. Weight: 24.00 grams (basic silver content 21.6 grams). Diameter: 35-36 mm. Thickness: 2.6 mm. Catalog number: KM# 2809. Quantity issued: 3,941,600 pieces. Drawing and inscriptions: The obverse shows a portrait of Franz Joseph I, wearing a laurel wreath, facing right, with the following Latin inscription: FRANC. IOS. I. D. G. IMP. AVSTR. REX BOH. GAL. ILL. ETC. ET AP. REX HVNG. The reverse shows a running/standing female figure holding a palm branch (symbol of fame/freedom) in her hand, next to her the Austrian eagle coat of arms and the denomination 5 COR. with the crown. Above it are the years 1848 and 1908, and the Latin inscription: DVODECIM LVSTRIS GLORIOSE PERACTIS (meaning: twelve lustrum, i.e. 60 gloriously fulfilled years). The ruler's motto is read on the edge: VIRIBVS VNITIS. Condition and Aesthetics: The coin shows signs of natural wear due to age and use, as can be seen in the attached close-up photos.
