The 2005 vintage is composed of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot, with an alcohol content of 13.5%. Silver Oak was founded in 1972 by Ray Duncan and winemaker Justin Meyer. The winery became known for its exclusive focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and for ageing its wines in American oak barrels. The wine received 95 points from Decanter, 91 points from Stephen Tanzer / International Wine Cellar and 90 points from Wine & Spirits. The producer describes the wine as powerful yet balanced, with aromas of strawberry, dried flowers, brioche and pencil lead, followed by a ripe fruit core and structured acidity.
