雕刻套装 (4) 新艺术风格 - 法国 .950 银质把手
Attractive antique French four-piece carving and serving set featuring .950 silver (1er titre) handles, housed in its original presentation box from P. Costard, Bijoutier in Lorient (Brittany). P. Costard was a traditional provincial jeweller active in the late 19th to early/mid-20th century, typical of retailers who offered quality silverware to local clients during the Belle Époque period.
The Set Includes:
Carving Fork (134 g, 28 cm) – silver handle with Paris steel tines
Carving Knife (121 g, 32 cm) – silver handle with Paris steel blade
Serving Spoon (61 g, 27.5 cm) – silver handle with large horn-effect (likely early Bakelite or similar man-made material) bowl
Serving Fork (60 g, 27.5 cm) – silver handle with horn-effect tines
Hallmarks:
Prominent right-facing Minerva head in octagonal frame confirming .950 silver.
Maker’s lozenge poinçon with initials S & O / O & S around a central cross/medal symbol.
Classic fluted handles with shell (coquille) motifs, characteristic of French silverware from around 1890–1920.
The set is practical and elegant, combining silver handles, functional Paris steel carving blades, and attractive horn-like serving parts. Light age-appropriate wear and patina (minor scratches on silver and blades; no major damage to the pieces themselves).
Box Note: The original presentation box shows signs of age. It is constructed from lightweight wood combined with a cardboard-type material designed to resemble leather. There is a small missing section on one edge (visible in photos). The interior silk lining and retailer label remain intact. While not a high-end luxury case, it is the original housing for the set.
A nice complete example of early 20th-century French table silver suitable for collectors or use.
Very good antique condition for the silverware; box has the noted wear and small damage – please review all photos in detail.
