Fine carved ancient Egyptian scarab amulet made of light-coloured soapstone. The upper side is modelled in the characteristic beetle form, with carefully rendered head, legs and wing cases. Traces of an old brownish-orange resinous substance remain on parts of the surface, possibly representing the remains of an ancient mounting, protective coating or adhesive.

The flat underside is finely engraved with the standing figure of a deity or worshipper facing a sacred symbol or shrine. The engraving remains clearly visible despite its age and retains good detail.

Soapstone scarabs of this type were widely used during the New Kingdom as personal amulets and protective seals. They symbolised regeneration, divine protection and rebirth, and were frequently worn as jewellery, mounted in rings, or incorporated into funerary equipment. In some cases, they were fixed with resin or attached to mummy wrappings as protective funerary amulets.

Condition: Well preserved with age-related wear. Ancient surface patina and traces of brownish-orange resin or adhesive residue. Minor edge wear consistent with age. Mounted on a modern display stand.

Provenance: Formerly in the Madeleine & Erich Dammann Collection, Germany. Acquired during the owners' extensive travels between 1950 and 1970. Documented in Germany by 1970 and subsequently retained in continuous family ownership.
