Château Guiraud 1er Grand Cru Classé 1990 Château Guiraud is the largest estate in the Sauternais. Its lands composed of sandy and clayey graves require regular drainage. The care given to the vine throughout the year is carried out with respect for traditions and the environment. In order to harvest perfectly ripe and botrytized grapes, the harvests carried out at Château Guiraud leave no room for any approximation and lead to a drastic selection. Yields are generally below the standard of 25hl/ha, even reaching 12hl/ha in order to produce a great quality wine. About the vintage Promoted first grand cru classified in 1855, the Château Guiraud is produced from the most beautiful terroirs of Sauternes. The blend is composed of sémillon (65%) and sauvignon (35%) grown in organic farming since 2011. The vines grow on gravel soils characteristic of the Bordeaux left bank. Yields are low, sometimes falling below 10hl/ha. The grapes are sorted and harvested meticulously to preserve only those affected by the famous noble rot, essential to Bordeaux liqueurs. In the cellar, fermentations are carried out in mostly new oak barrels, for three to six weeks. The aging then continues in barrels and lasts about 18 months. The style of the Château Guiraud is flamboyant: rich in liquor, very aromatic and perfectly balanced. Young, he develops aromas of exotic fruits and citrus fruits. As it evolves, it is adorned with notes of characteristic saffron and bitter orange jam. It is a superb wine that ages with grace.
