花瓶 - 瓷 - 日本 - Nunozome-saiji 花瓶 - Kamitaki Koichi (1968年出生)

Item Description This work is a single-flower vase by Kamitaki Koichi (born 1968), a full member of the Japan Kogei Association and the head of Sakura-yaki Katsuyama Kiln. Kamitaki was born as the eldest son of ceramicist Kamitaki Katsuji. After honing his skills in Arita-cho, Saga Prefecture, he returned to his hometown in 1993 and began studying formally under his father. He was first accepted into the Japan Traditional Kogei Exhibition in 1996, and became a full member of the Japan Kogei Association in 2005. He continues to pursue an active career today, centered on solo exhibitions at Kakiden Gallery (Shinjuku, Tokyo) and Nihonbashi Takashimaya, among other venues. The vessel takes the form of a double cone — a small piece yet one with a strong and distinctive presence. The surface is treated with the artist's signature nunozome-saiji (fabric-dyed decorated porcelain) technique, in which soft, warm geometric patterns in purple emerge against a white porcelain ground. Plain white glaze is applied above and below the decorative band, creating a serene and well-composed design. The fabric-dyeing technique extends even to the mark within the foot rim, reflecting the artist's meticulous attention to detail. This work is accompanied by a tomobako (original wood box) inscribed in the artist's own hand, bearing the title label "Nunozome Saiji Bin" and his signature. A bookmark from Kakiden Gallery is also included, bearing a note of appreciation from the "Kamitaki Koichi Exhibition," suggesting that this piece was acquired at that show. Dimensions Height: 12.5 cm Width: 8.5 cm Condition There is some minor soiling and wear consistent with age, but no damage that detracts from the work's visual appeal.
