A very large Japanese Buddhist silk and gold thread Katsura Kongo hanging 20th century Description Featuring Katsuma Kongo, crossed vajra, woven in gold thread representing absolute indestructibility, the cross symbolises unwavering spiritual enlightenment, offers protection against evil, and signifies that the Buddha’s teachings reach all four corners of the world. The two gold thread motifs embroidered onto a green ground with a row of ten loops for hanging. Total size 250cm wide x 117cm tall. The vajra motifs approx. 28cm x 28cm. Condition In good overall condition with no signs of damage. Gold thread work in good condition. Some staining to the rear of the green fabric, not visible from the front.
