Item Description
Joboji-Nuri Lacquer Kashibachi (Sweets Bowl) by Urumi Kogei — Hand-Painted Camellia Design, Unused
This is a fine example of Joboji-nuri, one of Japan's officially designated Traditional Crafts, produced by the long-established Iwate workshop Urumi Kogei. Urumi Kogei was founded in the postwar years by master lacquer craftsman Katsumata Kichiro (勝又吉郎, art name "Shizan" 紫山), whose family had produced Joboji lacquerware for generations in the Aradusa district before establishing their own studio in Morioka, later relocating to Takizawa City, where the workshop continues to operate today.
The bowl is turned from natural wood and built up with numerous coats of pure Japanese natural lacquer (urushi). The exterior is finished in a deep, sparkling black-brown "tame" lacquer flecked with fine gold particles, while the interior is a rich vermillion red. At the base of the interior, a delicate hand-painted spray of camellia (tsubaki) blossoms and buds is rendered in gold, orange, coral, and jade-green pigments, accompanied by the maker's gold signature and a red seal mark.
This is a genuinely unused, never-displayed piece kept in storage as part of a collection. Joboji-nuri is prized for the way its lacquer surface deepens in clarity and gloss with years of gentle use, making this bowl both a beautiful serving piece for sweets or fruit and a decorative tray for any interior setting.

Size
Height: 5.5 cm
Width: 23 cm
Depth: 23 cm

Weight
497 g / 0.497 kg

Condition
Brand new and unused, with the lacquer's original glossy finish fully intact and no signs of wear; the interior shows a faint round mark (light residue) where the traditional-craft foil seal has lifted with age, with no tackiness, and the piece is sold without its original outer box.

NOITICE:

The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by Japan Post, DHL or FedEx depend on the situation.
It takes about 3 weeks to receive normally.
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost.
