The piece is titled ""乾漆塗"" (Kanshitsu-nuri) on the box. Kanshitsu is a historically revered and labor-intensive technique where layers of hemp cloth soaked in urushi lacquer are molded into shape over a core. This process results in a remarkably lightweight yet incredibly durable structure with a distinctive, subtly textured surface finish. The vase features a fluid, organic form reminiscent of a calla lily or a stylized unfurling leaf. The deep, rich dark brown/black tones of the lacquer have a soft, natural luster that beautifully complements any floral arrangement. A cord is wrapped around the body, allowing it to be easily hung on a tea room pillar or a modern gallery wall. The base of the vase bears the artist's mark. It comes complete with its original signed paulownia wood storage box (Tomobako), the original artist biography leaflet, and a yellow protective cloth. Condition Vase: Excellent/Mint condition.
