Damien Hirst – Fruitful (Small), 2020 (H8-2)

Fruitful edition was created in September 2020, during the global pandemic. Damien Hirst partnered with Fondazione Prada to support Save the Children’s campaign “Riscriviamo il Futuro” (Rewrite the Future).
The aim was to raise funds for Italian children from disadvantaged backgrounds, hard hit by school closures and the health crisis. The operation was a huge success, raising more than €3.3 million.

Fruitful is a macroscopic dive into Hirst’s famous Cherry Blossoms series.

The work captures details of monumental canvases where Hirst reinterprets impressionism and pointillism (citing Bonnard, Monet and Van Gogh).

It represents abundance and renewal through vibrant brushstrokes (pink, white, green) interwoven on a dark background, creating an impression of organic movement.

The piece measures 39 x 39 cm, offering an intimate and abstract view of the quasi-living texture of the original.
