Brand – Edwards (by ESP)
Type of instrument/accessories – Electric Guitar (Les Paul Standard type – "Limited Model")
Where it is made (country) – Japan (Made in Japan)
Serial number (if applicable) – None. This is an early model produced before Edwards began stamping serial numbers on the headstock (pre-2004)
Colour (if applicable) – Cherry Sunburst (flame maple top)
Type of wood body/neck – Body: mahogany back with flame maple top; Neck: mahogany with rosewood fingerboard. The mahogany back shows no visible seam (appears to be a single piece)
Type of tuners – Gotoh Kluson-type tuners with "DELUXE" stamp (aged/yellowed keystone buttons)
Type of pickups – Seymour Duncan SH-1n '59 Model (neck) and SH-4 JB (bridge), both USA-made (confirmed by cavity stickers – see photos)
Type of neck joint – Set-in (ESP deep-joint construction)
Whether parts have been replaced – The bridge-position tone capacitor has been upgraded to an Orange Drop capacitor. The guitar is fitted with USA-made Seymour Duncan pickups (SH-1n neck / SH-4 JB bridge); it is unclear whether these are factory-original or a later upgrade, but they are confirmed genuine USA Seymour Duncans. All other hardware appears original.
Whether there is any damage – Yes. There is a notable chip/gouge on the top near the upper binding (treble-side shoulder) where the flame maple top and binding are damaged and bare wood is exposed. This is cosmetic only. Additionally, the rosewood fingerboard is dry with some grain shrinkage, and there is general light playwear. Please see the close-up photos.
Whether repairs are needed – No repairs needed for playability. The guitar plays and functions correctly as-is. The top chip is cosmetic. The fingerboard would benefit from conditioning (oiling).
Shipping method – Shipped via DHL. Estimated delivery approx. 10 days after auction close.
Import duties, taxes, and charges are not included in the item price or shipping cost. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to bidding or buying.
◉Condition Description
This is an early Edwards (by ESP) Les Paul Standard type "Limited Model," made in Japan. As an early example, it has no serial number (Edwards began stamping serials on the headstock around 2004, so this predates that). It is a great-playing guitar with genuine USA Seymour Duncan pickups and an Orange Drop capacitor upgrade, in good overall condition with one notable cosmetic flaw disclosed below.
Cosmetic condition: The flame maple top has a beautiful cherry sunburst finish with attractive figuring. Please note there is a clearly visible chip/gouge on the top near the upper (treble-side) binding, where the top and binding are damaged and bare wood is exposed – see the close-up photo. This is cosmetic and does not affect playability, but it is a significant visible mark. The back is clean mahogany with only light swirl/polishing marks and no major dings. The tuner buttons show age-related yellowing. Overall the finish presents very well aside from the top chip.
Neck & frets: The neck is straight with no twist, and the truss rod works correctly. The frets appear original (no levelling marks) with approximately 70–80% life remaining, showing light wear mainly in the lower positions. The rosewood fingerboard is quite dry and shows some grain shrinkage – it would benefit from conditioning/oiling, but is fully playable.
Electronics: Fully functional. Both pickups, all volume and tone controls, and the pickup selector work correctly with no crackle or noise. The bridge tone circuit has been upgraded with an Orange Drop capacitor.
Weight: 3.8 kg – a well-balanced weight for a Les Paul-type guitar.
Accessories: None included (guitar only).
