The name follows the traditional Roman tria nomina structure—comprising the praenomen Tiberius (abbreviated TI), the nomen Claudius (CLAVDI), and the Greek-derived cognomen Sosistratus (SOSISTRATI)—which strongly points to a Roman freedman (libertus) or descendant of one who operated a successful ceramic or glass workshop (officina) during the early Principate, most likely under the Julio-Claudian dynasty in the 1st century AD.
