He studied ceramics at Tokyo University of the Arts, completing his graduate studies under the guidance of the late Living National Treasure Koheiji Miura. After establishing his own kiln, Uraguchi devoted himself exclusively to the pursuit of celadon glazes, developing original formulations that move beyond traditional Song-dynasty-inspired blue-green tones toward richer, more complex colorations.
