This lot features a rare silver Lion Daalder (Leeuwendaalder) from 1649, struck in the Imperial City of Zwolle under the authority of Emperor Ferdinand III. The Lion Daalder was one of the most important trade coins of the Dutch Republic and remains a highly sought-after piece for collectors due to its bold design and historical significance.

Obverse: An armored knight facing right, looking over his left shoulder. In front of him, he holds a shield featuring the coat of arms of the city of Zwolle (a cross) by a ribbon. Legend: MO ARG CIVITA ZWOL A L IMP (New silver money of the city of Zwolle according to the Imperial standard).
Reverse: A large climbing lion facing left. The date 1649 is displayed above the lion. Legend: DA PACEM DOMINE IN DIEBVS NOST (Give peace, O Lord, in our days).
