闹钟, 台钟 - Jaz Space Age 塑料 - 1970-1980 - 底座 完全正常工作

Jaz “Soclic” Alarm Clock – Space Age Design – Coral / Orange-Red – Ref. 1351-81 – France, 1970s An iconic and highly recognizable example of 1970s French industrial design, the Jaz “Soclic” alarm clock perfectly embodies the bold, optimistic and futuristic aesthetic of the Space Age era. This example is the particularly attractive coral / orange-red version, reference 1351-81, one of the original colour variants offered by Jaz during the 1970s. The design is immediately striking: a compact cubic body made entirely in vivid coral-orange plastic, raised on its characteristic matching pedestal base. This architectural composition gives the clock a sculptural presence, transforming an everyday functional object into a genuine decorative design piece. The transparent front cover is softly rounded and projects slightly beyond the body, adding depth and visual lightness to the otherwise geometric form. Behind it, the metallic dial produces subtle radial reflections and is contrasted by the large, highly graphic black Arabic numerals typical of Jaz design from this period. The black hands and separate alarm-setting hand create a strong visual contrast against the metallic dial, while the black rectangular control positioned on top provides an additional graphic accent to the bright coral case. The rear of the clock retains its original black mechanical control plate, marked “FRANCE”, with the winding keys, alarm adjustment and regulation controls clearly visible. Key Features Brand: Jaz Model: Soclic Reference: 1351-81 Country of manufacture: France Period: 1970s Style: Space Age / Mid-Century Modern Colour: Coral / orange-red Movement: Mechanical, Jaz calibre DK Functions: Time and alarm Materials: Plastic case and pedestal, transparent acrylic front cover, metal dial Dimensions: approx. 7 × 11.5 cm Weight: approx. 180 g The “Soclic” Design One of the most distinctive characteristics of the Soclic is its small raised pedestal, which gives the clock its instantly recognizable silhouette. The square body appears almost suspended above the base, lending the object an architectural and sculptural quality particularly representative of 1970s Space Age design. The model was introduced in the 1974 Jaz catalogue and remained documented until approximately 1977. This coral / orange-red version corresponds to Jaz reference 1351-81. The original retail price was approximately 155 French francs. Mechanical Movement The clock is fitted with the original Jaz calibre DK mechanical movement, with both timekeeping and alarm functions. The original factory power reserve was approximately 30 hours. Considering the age of the mechanism, regular winding is recommended for optimal operation and timekeeping accuracy. Condition The alarm clock is in excellent aesthetic and structural condition for its age. The coral / orange-red plastic body retains a beautiful glossy finish and strong, vibrant colour. Only minor signs of age and use are visible, particularly on some areas of the rear mechanical control plate, fully consistent with an original vintage object from the 1970s. The clock has been fully serviced by a professional watchmaker. The mechanical movement has been tested and runs correctly and reliably, while the alarm function operates properly and with a strong, clear sound. A striking and increasingly collectible piece of French 1970s Space Age design, particularly attractive in the original coral / orange-red reference 1351-81.The item offered is original, vintage, and pre-owned, and is described accurately and in good faith. Before the listing, the clock has been carefully cleaned, tested, and documented with detailed photographs and, where applicable, a video showing its actual condition and functionality. All functions mentioned in the description, including timekeeping , have been tested and verified, and are tested again before shipment as a final quality check. Photographs form an integral part of the description and accurately represent the condition of the item at the time of listing. As this is a vintage mechanical item, minor signs of age and normal wear are to be expected and are consistent with its age. Any structural damage, missing parts, or non-functioning features are clearly disclosed in the description and/or visible in the images. Colours may vary slightly due to lighting conditions and screen settings. The item will be professionally packed using protective materials, and double-boxed where appropriate. Shipping is tracked and insured. The item is handed over to the carrier in the same condition as documented prior to dispatch. The buyer is responsible for providing a correct shipping address and for collecting the parcel within the carrier’s specified timeframe. In case of non-collection, refusal of delivery, or incorrect address, Catawiki’s applicable procedures and conditions will apply. This is a vintage mechanical timepiece. Due to its age and original components, slight variations in performance, accuracy, or behaviour may occur over time, even if fully functional at the time of testing. All stated functions have been tested and verified at the time of listing and again before shipment. By placing a bid, the buyer confirms that they have carefully read the description and reviewed all images and or video. The item has not been modified unless explicitly stated and is intended for normal use consistent with its age, or for collection and display.
