商品描述
A striking Japanese bronze tripod incense burner (koro) in the traditional Takaoka bronze tradition, signed 白峰 (Hakuho) on the underside of the body within an oval cartouche. The censer takes the form of a rounded, drum-shaped body raised on three legs cast as playful karako (Chinese boys) in flowing robes, each figure gripping the body of the vessel as if supporting it on their shoulders. The domed pierced lid is decorated with a swirling cloud (unmon) motif and is surmounted by a further karako figure seated on the lid, playing a transverse flute. A twisted rope-and-tassel band encircles the neck of the vessel, adding further textural interest to the otherwise smooth, dark patinated surface. The piece is a fine example of the figural, narrative style favoured by Meiji and early Showa-era Takaoka bronze workshops, in which mythological or genre figures were incorporated directly into the functional form of the vessel.
Size
Height: 16 cm
Width: 12.5 cm
Depth: 12.5 cm
Weight

The piece shows wear and surface soiling consistent with age, including dust accumulated within the deeper crevices of the figural decoration and light scattered surface marks; no losses or repairs are apparent.
