This is a beautiful and highly aesthetic specimen of cubic and skeletal Fluorite with Pyrite from the famous Yaogangxian Mine in Hunan, China, one of the world’s classic localities for exceptional Fluorite specimens. The specimen features intensely coloured blue Fluorite with a combination of well-defined cubic forms and characteristic skeletal growth. The crystals show beautiful variations from vivid electric blue to lighter, translucent blue and icy tones, creating an attractive sense of depth throughout the specimen. The skeletal growth is particularly interesting, revealing the characteristic open and stepped crystal structures of Fluorite from this locality. Small metallic Pyrite crystals are present on the Fluorite, providing a natural contrast with the bright blue colour and adding further visual interest to the specimen. The combination of cubic and skeletal Fluorite with contrasting Pyrite makes this an excellent example of the mineralisation for which Yaogangxian is highly regarded.
