He was born in 1926 in Skövde and later lived in Åkersberga. Börnfelt showed an early talent for drawing and won several drawing competitions during his youth. He is particularly remembered for his work as a designer of Lundby dollhouses and miniature furniture, beginning his association with Lundby around 1959–1960. His artistic career also included painting and graphic art, with signed and numbered colour lithographs appearing on the Swedish art market.
