A note for any whisky enthusiasts unfamiliar with Adelphi as an independent bottler: Adelphi is a very small independent bottler—but one of the best. I have truly never been disappointed by an Adelphi bottle.


Tasting Notes from the Adelphi-Homepage :
A warm, golden appearance, resulting from the (unusual) maturation
in a refill sherry hogshead (not a butt!). Upon the first sniff, the nose
picks up delicate aromas of cherry pie, immediately followed by waxy,
buttery notes, orange peel, and—gradually—fine chocolate;
think Jaffa Cakes!
Without water, the taste is predominantly sharp and sweet, slowly
becoming drier with a hint of chocolate. It is only with water that
the Macallan really comes alive: notes of turpentine, green apple,
peppery flavors, slight bitterness...
An old-school Macallan—and at that age!
