Although one might expect slight variations from piece to piece, the workmanship is astonishingly consistent throughout — evidence of a remarkably skilled and experienced embroiderer who carefully orchestrated this magnificent and highly unusual design.

The initials “N.M.” rest within a rectangular frame, surrounded by delicately scattered single flowers. At each of the four sides are abundant bouquets appearing to combine parrot tulips with marguerite daisies and anemones. The napkins are further enhanced by a stylised decorative border.
