Authentic fossil fish attributed to Lycoptera, originating from the Early Cretaceous deposits of Liaoning, China. The specimen is preserved on its original sedimentary matrix and shows very attractive anatomical detail. The skull is particularly well defined, while the vertebral column, ribs and several fin structures remain clearly visible. The fish is largely articulated and preserved in lateral view. Its reddish-brown fossilisation provides a strong natural contrast with the pale surrounding matrix.
