Laranda was an important city in central Anatolia, located on trade routes linking Phrygia, Cappadocia, and Cilicia. Formerly under Persian rule, it was captured by Perdiccas in the late 4th century BC during the Wars of the Diadochi and entered the Hellenistic world. Its coinage combined Greek and local traditions, featuring Herakles and a wolf. Later part of Galatia, it continued under Byzantine rule.
