铜质大型模铸币，属于天保通宝系列，在江户晚期发行，作为缓解幕府经济困难的措施。呈现椭圆形外观，中央孔为方形，灵感来自中国的货币传统。正面显示竖排的“天保通寶”书法体，背面标注面额“當百”（相当于百文），底部配有装饰性标记。此品保持清晰浮雕，字迹锐利，表面保留原始纹理，呈均匀的棕色铜质光泽，偶有绿色氧化区域。铸造工艺坚实，略有铸造过程中的不规则，但忠实再现了这类在日本前现代广泛流通的货币特征。
