卖家的描述
Arita Ware Porcelain Vase by Koki Kiln Kikusui – Hand-Painted Blue and White Landscape
This elegant Japanese Arita ware porcelain vase is signed on the base “Koki Kiln, Kikusui” (古許窯 菊水作).
The vase is decorated in traditional blue-and-white (sometsuke) style, featuring an atmospheric landscape with traditional East Asian architecture, pagoda-like buildings, mountains, willow trees, rocks, water and boats.
The composition has the character of a traditional Japanese or Chinese-inspired landscape painting, with the buildings and natural scenery arranged in a harmonious and picturesque setting.
The decoration appears, with noticeable variations in the density, direction and intensity of the cobalt-blue brushwork. These subtle variations give the landscape a lively and expressive quality.
An interesting feature is that a similar landscape composition is repeated on both the front and back of the vase, allowing the decorative scene to be appreciated from different angles.
The rounded form of the vase provides a particularly attractive surface for the continuous landscape, with the mountains and trees flowing around the body and creating a sense of depth.
The vase is not perfectly symmetrical and has a slight natural tilt. This appears to be an original characteristic of the handmade manufacturing process rather than later damage or deformation. Such subtle irregularities are often found in hand-crafted ceramics and contribute to the unique character of the piece.
The base bears the artist/kiln mark “古許窯 菊水作” (Koki Kiln, made by Kikusui).
This is an attractive piece for collectors of Japanese porcelain, Arita ware, sometsuke, and traditional Japanese decorative arts.
