In 1917, his son Mario transformed the estate into a high-quality wine producer. The "Cru" Revolution (1961): With the arrival of winemaker Alfredo Currado (husband of Luciana Vietti), the winery produced one of the very first single-vineyard (*cru*) Barolos: Rocche di Castiglione. Arneis and Artist Labels: In the 1960s, Currado recognized the potential of Roero Arneis (vinified as a single-varietal wine for the first time in 1967). The iconic "Artist Labels"—created by contemporary artists—were introduced in 1974. Continuity and Development: Subsequently led by Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena, the winery was acquired in 2016 by the American Krause family.
