Founded in 1884 by brothers António and Francisco Borges, Sociedade dos Vinhos Borges has established itself over more than a century as one of the most historic and distinguished houses in the Douro and Port wine region. The Borges Vintage Port 1989 is an exceptional example of longevity, bottled early to mature and evolve gracefully in glass across the decades. It exhibits the hallmark tertiary complexity of a well-aged Vintage Port, showing rich tawny and amber hues alongside a sophisticated bouquet of dried figs, raisins, toasted nuts, sweet spices, and subtle balsamic notes. On the palate, it delivers a smooth, velvety texture with a harmonious balance of sweetness and depth, culminating in a long, lingering finish that reflects the timeless elegance of a classic Port with over three decades of history. The bottle displays an excellent fill level for a 1989 Vintage Port, resting solidly at the base of the neck. The front label shows a visible vertical wine stain from past seepage along with natural signs of age, while remaining completely intact and legible, with the back label and IVDP guarantee seal well preserved. The original capsule and seal remain intact with historic traces of light seepage, and there is a small floating cork particle visible inside the bottle—a common occurrence in mature Vintage Ports that is easily addressed by decanting prior to serving.
