卖家的描述
DESCRIPTION:
Like a shard of vivid green glass sculpted by geological force, this natural Tsavorite rises in a slender semi triangular blade form, narrowing progressively towards an expressive upper point. Its silhouette is unusually elegant for grossular garnet, combining an elongated profile with irregular natural relief that gives the crystal a striking sculptural presence from every angle.
The colour is exceptionally intense. A vivid vanadium related green dominates the specimen, ranging from bright spring green through more concentrated emerald green areas according to crystal thickness and illumination. Along the upper half, where the crystal becomes especially transparent, the colour appears almost luminous, with light travelling freely through the body and activating brilliant green reflections.
Transparency is one of the strongest qualities of this piece. The upper section in particular reveals excellent light transmission, creating a dramatic contrast between the clean transparent areas and the more textured lower portion. Internal growth structures, natural reflective planes and subtle crystalline features become visible beneath illumination, producing considerable depth without reducing the strength of the colour.
Its morphology is equally distinctive. Rather than presenting a compact or equant garnet habit, the specimen develops as a thin, vertically extended blade with a semi triangular outline and naturally sculpted lateral surfaces. The asymmetrical upper point gives the crystal an almost flame like character, while the lower section preserves irregular natural growth textures that emphasise its completely unmodified state.
The vitreous lustre is especially effective across the smoother transparent surfaces, where sharp reflections appear against the saturated green body. As the crystal rotates, the relationship between transparency, colour concentration and natural internal architecture changes continuously, giving the specimen a dynamic optical character far beyond that of more conventional rough Tsavorite.
Originating from Tsavo, Taita Taveta, Kenya, the classic locality that gave Tsavorite its name, this crystal combines exceptionally vivid green colour, strong transparency and a highly individual blade morphology. It is a refined natural specimen whose appeal lies not only in colour, but in the remarkable interaction between form, light and untouched geological character.
SPECIFICATIONS:
• Weight: 0.13 g
• Weight in carats: 0.65 ct
• Dimensions: 11 × 5 × 3.5 mm
• Origin: Tsavo, Taita Taveta, Kenya
• Mineral species: Grossular Garnet
• Variety: Tsavorite
• Crystal system: Cubic
• Crystal habit: Elongated natural blade like crystal
• Morphology: Slender semi triangular profile with an asymmetric pointed upper section
• Colour: Exceptionally vivid green
• Colour tones: Spring green to intense emerald green
• Colour origin: Primarily vanadium related
• Colour distribution: Natural variation according to thickness and internal structure
• Transparency: Transparent to translucent
• Transparency distribution: Particularly strong through the upper half
• Lustre: Vitreous
• Surface features: Natural sculptural growth surfaces and irregular crystalline relief
• Internal features: Natural growth structures and reflective internal planes
• Treatment: None
• Condition: Natural, unpolished and untreated crystal
NOTABLE POINTS:
• Distinctive Blade Like Morphology
The elongated semi triangular form gives the crystal an unusually elegant and immediately recognisable silhouette.
• Exceptional Vivid Green Saturation
Strong vanadium related colour produces an intense green with excellent visual impact.
• Highly Transparent Upper Section
The upper half transmits light particularly well, creating remarkable internal luminosity.
• Natural Emerald Green Intensification
Selected thicker areas display deeper green concentration without losing their luminous character.
• Sculptural Asymmetric Apex
The narrowing upper section creates a natural pointed profile with strong display personality.
• Excellent Light Interaction
Transparent zones illuminate dramatically while internal planes produce changing reflections during rotation.
• Strong Vitreous Lustre
Cleaner crystal surfaces generate bright highlights that reinforce both colour and transparency.
• Natural Internal Architecture
Growth structures and reflective planes create depth while preserving the crystal’s geological authenticity.
• Dynamic Colour Behaviour
Green saturation shifts subtly with orientation, thickness and illumination.
• Completely Natural Preservation
The crystal remains untreated, unpolished and preserved in its original mineralogical state.
• Classic Tsavo Provenance
Originates from the historic Kenyan locality after which Tsavorite was named.
• Strong Collector Presentation
Its combination of unusual morphology, transparency and intense colour creates exceptional display appeal.
COLLECTOR’S INTEREST:
Tsavorite is admired primarily for the extraordinary intensity of its natural green, but crystals with this degree of transparency and such an unconventional elongated blade morphology possess an additional level of collector individuality. Rather than presenting a common compact garnet form, this specimen has a sculptural architecture that gives it immediate visual identity.
Its vivid colour, luminous upper section and classic Tsavo provenance make it particularly attractive to collectors of fine garnet and East African minerals. The specimen succeeds both aesthetically and mineralogically, preserving a complete natural relationship between colour, transparency and unusual growth form.
LAPIDARY POTENTIAL:
The crystal contains transparent, strongly saturated material that could theoretically offer attractive faceting potential. However, cutting would permanently remove the unusual blade like morphology and the natural transition between transparent and sculptural zones that define the specimen.
Its greatest character is therefore preserved in its present natural state, where the vivid green colour, exceptional transparency and distinctive semi triangular form remain fully visible together.

Shipping and Handling:
All orders are shipped by Portuguese National Post and UPS
• Dispatch time: within 1 to 3 business days after payment confirmation to Catawiki
• Transit time service: between 2 to 5 business days within europe and worldwide, depending on destination national post.

Photography and transparency:
All photographs are taken under controlled lighting conditions using a macro lens, carefully selected to present each specimen as accurately as possible.
No filters, colour enhancement, or artificial saturation are applied.
The lighting setup uses a calibrated 5500K light source, replicating neutral daylight to reveal natural tones, surface features, and internal characteristics. Under warmer or weaker indoor lighting, colours may appear slightly different, which is normal.
The purpose of this photographic process is documentation and representation, not visual enhancement. Images are intended to reflect the specimen faithfully as it appears under balanced natural light conditions.
Identification and ethics:
All specimens offered are natural and described to the best of our knowledge, based on direct sourcing, professional experience, and information provided by trusted suppliers working at the origin.
Every effort is made to ensure transparency and accuracy regarding identification, locality, and general characteristics, avoiding misleading statements about treatment, provenance, or nature.
Customs and import taxes:
Any customs duties, import fees, or local taxes applied by the destination country are entirely the responsibility of the winning bidder.
These charges are not included in the auction price or shipping cost and are determined by the buyer’s local authorities.
Guarantee and resolution:
Customer satisfaction is important. In the unlikely event of an issue such as loss, damage, or discrepancy, please contact us promptly through Catawiki’s messaging system.
Each case is handled individually and fairly, with appropriate solutions offered when justified.
Appreciation and commitment:
We sincerely thank you for your trust. Our work focuses on careful selection, accurate representation, and respectful presentation of mineral specimens with character and interest.
Each piece is chosen for its individual qualities rather than speculative or financial considerations. We aim to provide a transparent, reliable, and consistent experience for collectors at all levels.
