Item Description
This lot presents a set of two Japanese porcelain vases finished in a rich cobalt blue glaze, each decorated with hand-applied gilt and enamel motifs typical of decorative Japanese porcelain ware.

The taller vase has a classic baluster silhouette with a flared neck and a gilt-lined rim, decorated on one side with a gold peacock displayed among plum blossoms and peony flowers, rendered in gilt, red, green, and grey enamel tones. The second, smaller vase is of a rounded, jar-like form with a narrow gilt-rimmed mouth, decorated with a hawk perched among pine branches, also picked out in gold and grey enamel against the deep cobalt ground.

Both pieces share the same cobalt blue glaze and gilt rim treatment, suggesting they were produced as a coordinated set or in a matching decorative style. The underside of each vase shows an unglazed footring typical of this type of porcelain production.
