两幅日本书法挂轴——粗笔书法与阿部仲麿的诗 - 纸, 真丝 - Ichinohe Hyoe - 日本 - Meiji period (1868-1912)

Short description of the item and its origin This lot presents two traditional Japanese calligraphy hanging scrolls (kakejiku), both executed in ink on paper and mounted in the traditional Japanese scroll format. The first scroll features powerful, expressive brushwork in large Chinese characters, accompanied by a smaller inscription and red seals. It is signed Ichinohe Hyoe, a prominent Japanese military figure of the Meiji era who was also known for his calligraphy and whose written works are preserved in hanging-scroll format. The second scroll presents the well-known four-line poem associated with Abe no Nakamaro, expressing longing for his homeland of Nara while looking toward the eastern sky and remembering the moon over Mount Mikasa. The poem is particularly associated with the classical Japanese theme of homesickness and remembrance of one's homeland. Together, the two scrolls offer an appealing combination of Japanese calligraphic expression and classical literary culture, presented in traditional kakejiku mounting with decorative brocade. Collector’s Value & Benefits This is an attractive pair for collectors of Japanese calligraphy, kakejiku, historical Japanese documents and East Asian literary culture. The first scroll is particularly interesting because of its association with Ichinohe Hyoe, whose name and signature provide a clear historical connection to the Meiji-period Japanese military and cultural establishment. The second scroll complements it with a classical literary theme centred on Abe no Nakamaro and his longing for Nara and the Japanese homeland. The contrast between the bold, energetic brushwork of the first scroll and the more orderly literary composition of the second creates a visually interesting pairing. Both retain their traditional Japanese mounting, decorative textiles, hanging cords and roller fittings, and the roller ends are made of bone, making them suitable for display as well as for a specialised collection. Dimensions (in cm) Scroll 1: 203 × 46 cm (height × width) Scroll 2: 110 × 26 cm (height × width) Weight (in grams) 1800 g Shipping method Shipping & International Duties: ● Based on our inventory storage locations, we ship our items from either Japan or China to destinations worldwide. ● We pack all items with extreme care to ensure safe transit.
