The two timepieces are traditional French Comtoise clocks (also known as Morbier or Wag-on-the-Wall clocks), characterized by their richly decorated, embossed brass case, large pendulum and heavy chain/wire mechanism. Although they are very similar in style, the following significant differences can be observed between them: Structural and aesthetic differences. Decoration above the dial: The upper part of the clock on the left is surrounded by a more refined, delicate floral and vine pattern of relief. The top of the clock on the right has two clearly visible figures of birds (a pair of birds) facing each other above the rich plant ornamentation. Weights (weight weights): The left piece has brass-plated cylindrical weights that harmonize with the gold color of the case. The weights on the right clock are black (traditionally made of cast iron), which creates a sharper contrast with the mechanism. Both clocks work with the same problem, they run for about half an hour, then stop. The mechanism is probably broken or needs maintenance. The striking part works, it strikes what it should, but after a while they stop on the wall. Maybe I didn't set it up right. One of them had a broken glass, but it's there, we'll post it with it.
