A finely modelled Chinese Shiwan pottery figure of a goose, dating to the first half of the 20th century. The goose is naturalistically modelled with finely incised feathering, an open beak and detailed eyes, standing on a richly glazed rocky base in mottled blue and brown tones. The restrained buff-coloured body contrasts attractively with the darker glazed beak, feet and base. The underside bears an impressed export mark. A decorative and characterful example of 20th-century Shiwan export pottery. Dimensions: H 24 × W 24 × D 12.8 cm Condition: Overall in excellent antique condition. A small nick to one claw and a minor nick to the edge of a feather. Minor age-related surface marks and firing irregularities consistent with period and manufacture.
