Black Sabbath – Black Sabbath (1973) – Rare Vertigo Spaceship Pressing – Gatefold Sleeve – EX / EX Condition Lot Description: Up for auction is a exceptionally rare and fine 1973 pressing of Black Sabbath's self-titled debut album, released on the Vertigo "Spaceship" label. This specific pressing represents a highly sought-after milestone for collectors: it was produced in 1973 during a very brief window of just a few months—a transitional phase when Vertigo phased out the "Swirl" logo in favor of the new "Spaceship" design created by Roger Dean, right before the band transitioned to WWA Records. A piece of Heavy Metal history preserved in EX / EX condition, extremely difficult to find in this state of preservation. Technical Details: Artist: Black Sabbath Title: Black Sabbath Label: Vertigo (Spaceship Label) Format: Vinyl, LP, Album, Gatefold Release Year: 1973 Country: UK / Europe Condition and Grading: Media Grade: EX (Excellent) The vinyl is in excellent condition, retaining its original gloss. It features only a few negligible surface marks (hairlines) visible solely under direct light, completely non-audible. Audio playback is powerful, deep, and well-balanced, delivering flawless sound even during quieter passages (such as the iconic rain and thunder sound effects on the opening track). Center labels are clean and pristine. Sleeve Grade: EX (Excellent) The gatefold sleeve is structurally sound and extremely well-preserved. The spine is crisp and fully legible, with edges and corners showing only minimal, natural signs of aging. The inside gatefold featuring the famous inverted cross is sharp, clean, and free of any writing or moisture damage.
