A rare and highly distinctive piece of 1980s European design, this sculptural vase was designed by renowned Swedish ceramic artist Lisa Larson and produced by Rosenthal, Germany, as part of the celebrated Studio-Linie collection. The model is known as the “Ice Cream Cocktail Vase” or “Cocktail Vase” and is dated to 1986. Its unusual geometric construction features a tall cylindrical body divided into contrasting beige and pale grey tones, crowned by two overlapping circular elements, one with a characteristic crescent-shaped opening. The combination of geometric forms, contrasting surfaces and restrained colours gives the piece a distinctly Scandinavian and modernist character. The vase measures approximately 13 cm in height and 7.5 cm in diameter. The underside bears the original embossed Rosenthal Studio-Linie Germany mark. Lisa Larson (1931–2024) was one of Sweden’s best-known ceramic artists and designers. Her work is particularly admired for its distinctive combination of simplicity, humour and strong sculptural form. During her career as an independent designer, she collaborated with several international manufacturers, including Rosenthal. The present piece is an excellent example of Rosenthal Studio-Linie’s philosophy of combining functional objects with innovative contemporary design. The Studio-Linie was established in 1961 and became renowned for collaborations with internationally recognised designers and artists. Condition: very good vintage condition.
