This is a matcha tea bowl created by Mizuide Sokei, a ceramic artist associated with the traditions of Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware. It bears the artist’s impressed mark and comes with its original signed wooden box (tomobako), inscribed “Tea Bowl.” The most striking feature of this work is the beautiful contrast between its boldly textured, rustic clay surface and the vivid glazes flowing across it. Vibrant cobalt-blue glaze—reminiscent of ruri or kaiheki glaze—and green glaze flow gently over the rugged, rock-like surface, creating beautiful gradations and a dynamic ceramic landscape. The complex kiln effects combine golden-brown, black, deep blue and green tones, evoking magnificent natural scenery such as mountains and the earth. Its appearance changes depending on the viewing angle, giving the bowl a powerful sense of depth and movement. In contrast, the interior is finished in a gentle cream-colored glaze with a delicate network of fine crackles. This calm and refined surface provides a beautiful contrast to the rugged exterior and allows the vivid green of freshly prepared matcha to stand out particularly well. This distinctive tea bowl can be enjoyed as a collectible work of ceramic art, as well as for everyday tea practice or a special tea gathering. The rough clay texture, variations in the glaze, crackling and kiln effects are natural characteristics created through handcrafting and firing, and form part of the unique beauty of this work. **Dimensions and Weight** * Diameter: approximately 12.5 cm * Height: approximately 8.5 cm * Weight: approximately 610 g, including the original wooden box * Estimated packed weight: approximately 900 g **Important Information Regarding Shipping, Taxes and Customs** Orders to EU countries will be shipped by EMS or FedEx.
