A fascinating bronze signet ring distinguished by its prominent oval bezel bearing a deeply engraved and now heavily worn monogram-like device. The design consists of intersecting vertical, diagonal and curved strokes arranged around a central axis. Rather than forming an immediately readable inscription, the individual elements appear to have been combined into a single emblem or monogram. Such compact devices could serve as personal marks, initials, ownership symbols or identifying emblems. The strongly worn condition of the bezel makes the original characters difficult to separate today, giving the design an especially enigmatic appearance.
