A genuine antique Japanese inro, part of a complete sagemono ensemble comprising a five-case lacquer inro, a naturalistic carved wood netsuke, and a matching pair of agate (tiger's eye) ojime beads. The inro is finished in dark lacquer with fine gold maki-e decoration depicting autumn grasses and reeds against a mottled red and gold ground, a striking and painterly design. The five cases are joined by the original silk cord, with the netsuke and ojime intact and functional. Total weight approximately 57g. A wonderful example of a complete, wearable inro set with genuine age and character.
