Beautiful polished specimen of natural Burmese amber containing a clearly visible spider inclusion. The arachnid displays a distinct abdomen, cephalothorax and several preserved legs, allowing its characteristic body structure to be easily observed. The amber also contains plant fragments, organic debris and other small inclusions, creating a fascinating miniature representation of an ancient forest ecosystem. Burmese amber originates from the Hukawng Valley in northern Myanmar and dates to the Late Cretaceous period, approximately 99 million years ago. Specimens containing identifiable arachnids are particularly interesting to collectors because they provide a rare glimpse into prehistoric terrestrial life.
