The specimen displays remarkably well-preserved enamel, retaining fine surface detail and natural dark coloration. Particularly noteworthy is the presence of clearly visible feeding wear, an original biological feature produced during the animal’s lifetime and direct evidence of the tooth’s functional use in processing vegetation. Ouranosaurus nigeriensis is principally associated with the Elrhaz Formation of the Gadoufaoua region, Agadez, Niger, dating to the Early Cretaceous, approximately 125–112 million years ago (Aptian–Albian). These deposits preserve one of Africa’s most celebrated Cretaceous vertebrate assemblages. Compared with the abundant isolated teeth of several predatory dinosaurs from North African fossil deposits, well-preserved Ouranosaurus teeth are considerably less commonly encountered on the collector market.
