PENTAX SL + Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55mm F1.8, tested and working. Hello from Japan! We provide high-quality cameras and lenses to the world. The Asahi Pentax SL (1968) is the meterless version of the celebrated Spotmatic — mechanically identical but without the TTL metering circuitry, making it lighter, simpler and entirely battery-free. Beautifully built with the same smooth operation as the Spotmatic, it uses the universal M42 screw mount. It is offered here with the Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 55mm f/1.8, a sharp and characterful standard lens. Important — please read carefully: There are marks on the shutter curtain. Please review the photos and consider this before bidding. Condition: Used — Good Pre-owned, heavy signs of use, or minor optical flaws Serial Number Please check the photo. Appearance Scuffs and scratches from normal use. Please check the photos for details. Optical Condition Finder: Usable and bright. Lens: A little dust inside; no haze or fungus. Functional The shutter and film transport work. Measured: 1 s = 0.9 s, 1/60 = 1/49, 1/1000 = 1/832. The SL has no light meter and needs no battery; use a hand-held meter or the Sunny-16 rule. The light seals have been replaced. Measured Performance We check these cameras on a shutter tester rather than by ear, and we publish what we measured: - 1 s — measured 1/0.9 s (approx. 0.2 stop slow) - 1/60 — measured 1/49 s (approx. 0.3 stop slow) - 1/1000 — measured 1/832 s (approx. 0.3 stop slow) Negative film has enough latitude to absorb deviations of this size, but the figures are here so you can judge for yourself. Servicing This camera was serviced by us before listing: - Light seals (foam) replaced Known Issues 1. There are marks on the shutter curtain. They do not affect operation.
