一对江户时代的屏风,描绘在幼松之间的鹤 — 无署名 - 纸 - Unknown - 日本 - Late Edo period

*From the store This is a pair of Edo-period folding screens depicting cranes among young pine trees. Because the screens are very wide, I was unable to photograph the pair fully opened. The first three photographs show them partially unfolded. The cranes and young pines are finely painted with traditional pigments against a plain gold background. Young pines evoke new growth and hope, while cranes are well-known symbols of longevity and good fortune. There are areas of age-related rubbing and paint loss in the paintings, but their overall condition is good considering their age. It is remarkable that the richly colored pigments have survived without major damage. The mounting around the paintings appears to have been remade in more recent times, judging by the age of its fabric. The green Japanese paper on the reverse shows discoloration from age and peeling in several areas. The screens are unsigned, so the artist is unknown. Based on the painting style, they may have been made by an Edo-period painter associated with the Kanō school. One can imagine them displayed in the reception room of a residence of the time. I recommend this pair to anyone looking for an authentic Edo-period folding screen set. ------------------ Weight: Approximately 16 kg (35.3 lb) per six-panel screen; approximately 32 kg (70.5 lb) for the pair.
