Eric Selection Maritime – Vintage Mechanical Watch – Stainless Steel – Tropical Patina Dial – 1960-1969
A charming vintage Eric Selection Maritime from the 1960s, distinguished by its strongly aged dial, maritime-inspired identity and classic hand-wound mechanical movement.
The watch features a silver dial that has developed an extensive and highly visible natural vintage patina, creating a unique textured appearance. Applied hour markers are combined with distinctive Arabic numerals at 12, 3, 6 and 9, while the inscription “MARITIME” and an anchor symbol at 6 o’clock reinforce the nautical character of the model.
The case back carries the elegant “Étanche Contrôlée” engraving, together with the inscriptions “Antimagnetic – Stainless Steel – Waterproof”, characteristic details of the period.

Condition Report
This Eric Selection Maritime is in Grade B condition, displaying pronounced signs of age that give the watch a particularly authentic vintage character.
The most distinctive feature is the dial, which has developed extensive natural patina, spotting, oxidation and colour variation across the surface. Rather than presenting as a uniform silver dial, it now has a textured, almost tropical appearance that makes this particular example visually unique.
The applied indexes and Arabic numerals remain clearly visible, while the hands show age-related oxidation and wear. The Maritime inscription and anchor emblem remain visible at 6 o’clock.
The stainless steel case shows scratches, small marks and surface wear consistent with its age. The acrylic crystal also shows signs of normal use. The case back presents scratches and marks from wear and previous opening, while its period engravings remain clearly identifiable.
The watch is fitted with a generic grey leather strap measuring approximately 18 cm.
Although the case back is historically marked “Waterproof”, water resistance has not been tested and therefore cannot be guaranteed.
Please study all photos carefully, as they are part of the description and show the actual condition of the item.
Story & Heritage
This Eric Selection Maritime is a characteristic example of the numerous smaller European watch brands that contributed to the rich diversity of mechanical watchmaking during the mid-20th century.
Its identity is strongly connected to the nautical theme. The “Maritime” designation and anchor symbol, together with the period “Waterproof”, “Antimagnetic” and “Étanche Contrôlée” markings, reflect an era when manufacturers increasingly promoted watches as practical instruments suited to an active lifestyle.
Particularly appealing today is the watch's heavily patinated dial. Decades of ageing have transformed its original surface into a unique combination of tones and textures. No two naturally aged vintage dials develop in exactly the same way, giving this example an individual character that cannot be recreated artificially.
Combined with its traditional hand-wound mechanical movement, stainless steel construction and unmistakable 1960s aesthetic, the Eric Selection Maritime is an interesting vintage piece for collectors who appreciate original patina, uncommon brands and authentic period character.
