A substantial Tudor-period lead figurine depicting a mounted rider on horseback, dating approximately to the 15th–16th century.

The rider is shown seated upright on a stylised horse, with surviving details of the figure’s clothing, headgear and harness equipment still visible despite age-related wear. The horse is modelled with a broad body and pronounced limbs, while incised and raised details suggest elements of the saddle and tack.

Small cast lead figures of this type were produced in medieval and early post-medieval England and may have functioned as toys, devotional or decorative objects, or inexpensive representations of mounted figures intended for everyday ownership.

The surface displays extensive natural oxidation, encrustation and wear consistent with prolonged age and burial. The surviving form remains highly recognisable and gives the piece considerable character as an example of Tudor-period popular material culture.
