日本挂轴——《松、竹、梅下的鹤龟》——Seihō (晴方) - 真丝 - Seihō (晴方) - 日本 - Shōwa period (1926-1989)
A beautiful traditional Japanese hanging scroll painting, signed Seihō (晴方) and accompanied by a red artist’s seal.
The composition depicts a highly auspicious scene featuring two elegant cranes and two turtles beneath an old pine tree, surrounded by blossoming plum and bamboo. These motifs have long been treasured in Japanese art for their symbolic meanings.
The crane (tsuru) and turtle (kame) are celebrated symbols of longevity and good fortune, while pine, bamboo and plum (shō-chiku-bai / 松竹梅) traditionally represent endurance, vitality and renewal. Together, they create a particularly auspicious composition associated with long life, happiness, prosperity and celebration.
The painting is executed on silk, with delicate brushwork and refined use of colour. The finely rendered feathers of the cranes, vigorous pine needles, white and red plum blossoms, and subtle blue-green accents give the work an elegant and decorative appearance.
The painting is mounted as a traditional Japanese kakejiku (hanging scroll) with richly patterned brocade borders. The wooden roller ends complement the classical presentation.
