Natsume - Wada Juho – 加贺蒔絵漆茶罐 – 菊花、桐与秋草纹样设计 –, 木

An elegant Japanese lacquer tea caddy by Wada Juho (和田寿峰), a Kaga maki-e artist known for his finely decorated tea ceremony utensils. The piece is decorated with a traditional Kiku-Kiri-Akikusa (Chrysanthemum, Paulownia and Autumn Grass) design using the Japanese maki-e lacquer technique. The combination of chrysanthemum, paulownia and autumn plants is a classical Japanese decorative motif with a long history in maki-e lacquerware. The delicate gold decoration creates a refined contrast against the lacquered surface. Wada Juho is a Kaga maki-e artist from the Yamanaka area of Ishikawa Prefecture and has devoted many decades to the creation of maki-e lacquerware, particularly tea ceremony utensils.
