Vintage Japanese Indigo Table Runner - Aizome Katazome Crane, Tortoise & Chrysanthemum - 180cm
説明文
Antique Japanese Indigo Cotton Table Runner (Aizome) - Sanshoku-Katazome Crane, Tortoise & Chrysanthemum Pattern - 180cm
Bring a touch of authentic Japanese craftsmanship to your dining table. This vintage Japanese indigo cotton textile (Kofu) makes a striking table runner, featuring “Sanshoku-Katazome” (three-color stencil dyeing) in deep indigo, crisp white, and warm terracotta-red. An elegant repeating medallion design of cranes (tsuru), tortoises (kame) and chrysanthemum-style floral roundels is surrounded by fine dotted scrollwork. These auspicious motifs are traditionally associated with longevity and good fortune in Japanese folk art (Mingei).
A Unique Handcrafted Treasure
Each piece is a “Unique Piece” of history, created through labor-intensive traditional stencil-dyeing techniques. Unlike mass-produced fabrics, the subtle variations in color and pattern reflect the artisan’s hand, making this textile a one-of-a-kind item.
Perfect as a Table Runner & Interior Accent
The long, narrow shape of this fabric is ideal for use as a table runner. The rich indigo ground sets off tableware beautifully, from Japanese ceramics to modern dinnerware, and blends well with natural wood and tatami interiors. It is also lovely as:
Table Runner: Lay it down the center of a dining table, sideboard, or console for an elegant Japanese-inspired look.
Interior Display: Use it as a tapestry-style wall hanging, or on a shelf, tokonoma-style alcove, or chest.
Collection & Upcycling: A distinguished addition for any enthusiast of Japanese textiles, or material for bespoke bags and accessories.
Specifications:
